ZENTSUJI TEMPLE
Kukai (空海), also known posthumously as Kobodaishi (弘法大師),
was born in 774 here in the present-day town of Zentsuji
in the province of Sanuki on the island of Shikoku.
He was a Japanese monk, scholar, poet, and artist.
He has been the most famous monk in Japan.
