武吉士街
BUGIS STREET

The once famous Bugis Street in Singapore
was high on the list of 'must visits' for an adventurous sailor.
It was probably the hub of Singapore nightlife at one stage,
especially in the 1960's and 1970's.
Among all the other things to do and see in Bugis Street
it was the nightly parade of Kai Tais or Beaney Boys
which was very much the highlight of the evening.
I come here to cover this street now.
I saw an ordinary shopping street there.

Bugis Junction is an integrated development
located at Victoria Street,
Middle Road and North Bridge Road in Bugis,
Downtown Core Planning Area in Singapore.
The development consists of a shopping mall,
an office tower and the InterContinental Singapore Hotel.
The Bugis was commonly known for the large community
of transsexuals and transvesittes that worked the area.
