Taihoji Temple

Taihoji is the historic old temple founded in 701.
The main hall of the temple
is designated as the national treasure.
The weeping cherry tree which exists
in the center of the precincts of the temple
is called "Ubazakura"
and it is described in the ghost story,Kaidan,
by Patrick Lafcadio Hearn.

解説
大宝寺
　
大宝寺は大宝年間（７０１年〜７０４年）に開基された古刹である。
本堂は伊予国最古の木造建築物で国宝に指定されている。
境内の中央にある枝垂れ桜は「うば桜」と呼ばれ
ラスカディオハーンが怪談のなかで取り上げて世界に紹介した。
私達は真夏の太陽がぎらぎら照りつける
8月13日のお盆の時期に参拝したが、
なんと藤の花が咲いていたが、
お盆に咲く藤も不思議ではある。
